Infrastructure
In general, Shanghai supports an infrastructure for doing business that is rapidly becoming comparable to major global commercial centers. China is fast developing its voice and data networks with the world's largest wireless network and fiber optics reaching the most remote areas. In Shanghai one can easily find hotels and restaurants meeting the highest international standards and travel by car is easy and efficient. Travel to Shanghai is convenient with United Airlines, Northwest and Continental offering flights each day.
Bleum operates out of a modern office building not too far from the center of Shanghai with reliable support for electricity, telephone and Internet. We are located not far from the intersection of the two main subway lines allowing us to recruit from all 4 corners of the city. Between China and the U.S., public Internet network performance is similar to what is available within the U.S. If additional bandwidth is required, international telecom companies, such as AT&T, offer dedicated leased lines.
Since Bleum's focus is supporting international companies, we are committed to operating a comprehensive security policy and infrastructure providing our customers with the highest confidentiality and protection for intellectual property and data. Access to the entire Bleum facility is controlled through the use of key cards with special secure rooms requiring additional authorization and server rooms utilize biometric controlled access. Bleum networks and servers are protected by firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection software and uninterrupted power supplies. Most company computers are disabled from using portable media storage devices. Currently we operate a range of different VPN configurations to support secure communication with our customers in the U.S.
Bleum's current business continuity and disaster recovery planning includes daily and weekly backups of our systems with monthly backups being stored offsite. We utilize fire proof cabinets for protecting important documents and software of our customers and Bleum. We also utilize two separate ISPs, each using separate international gateways. These are the two root providers for China: China Telecom and China Netcom.
